Put the CC down and back away slowly...

I started ordering Noah's curriculum for next year. This is best done in stages. Giving my credit card a break every few days. So far I have settled on...

Math U See. I used this for Christopher and loved it. I think it will work great with Noah. The manipulative's will allow him to see how the problems are solved. I will supplement with Spectrum workbooks.

Writing strands. They were having a sale so I ordered the entire program. I saved over $60 and now we have his writing through high school. I will add book reports to this, and I think we are going with History Odyssey. I am looking at way to tie the two together. We are also getting the Writing strands for Pre-K. I want to start working with Peyton to help prepare him for Kindergarten. There seems to be a good mix of funny stories, and games to keep his attention.

All About Spelling. After reading the reviews I really think this program will work for Noah. Trying to find curriculum for Dyslexia/Dysgraphia is challenging but I think AAS will help him.

I am looking at R.E.A.L. Science. It seems to have a good mix of work/experiments to keep him and I both interested.

Noah has asked to take Italian this year. Fun! Fun! I really wanted to stick with Japanese (seeing as how we live here).. But, I found a workbook for under $15, so we will give it a try.

After talking with Noah we have decided that he will school over the summer. I am still narrowing down a schedule but I am thinking M-W-F will probably work best.

So, that's it so far. I am positive that I will add to this list, but its a start.
Now I'm off to sleep and rest my CC!

Any suggestions on curriculum, or free sites PLEASE pass them along!!!

Stages are good! I know I do it the same way, partially to not have sticker shock all at once, and partially not to overwhelm myself with planning.

Personally, I love the reading lists available at amblesideonline.org. They also link to many books that are free online. I take the reading lists to the library and pick out a few of the books for my son each time. I don't choose *every* book; I look for what will be classic and challenging, but will still interest him.

Have fun planning! It's hard to believe Noah is about to delve into homeschooling. He looks so little compared to my Gavin. LOL But I remember when Gavin was that small too... Just today, he was telling me that he doesn't want anybody to read to him; he's capable of reading to himself. *sigh* Awww...

I'm so jealous! Buying curriculum is just about the best part of homeschooling! Somehow, buying textbooks at the beginning of the CC semester just doesn't have the same thrill, LOL.

Good luck this year!

If Noah wants a pen pal, I think Padawan Learner would be happy to type back & forth with him. He took Italian this school year. Just let me know if he's interested.
