How do you decide what to do? Things to buy? Which way to turn down a road? There are so many choices they become overwhelming. We are all adjusting well to the many (and I mean many) choices we have. 24 hour fast food, shopping, and fun. We have picked the top 10 or 15 places we want to visit and see. Starting with today. Laser tag, and rock climbing was a blast! Not to mention the 20 foot high slide for Peyton.
Ian's parents live near some of the most beautiful parks. We have walked to a few in the neighborhood and let me tell you.... I want to pack one up and take it home with me. Colorado has more wetlands, and wide open spaces then I remember. Today the boys and I got to watch a mama prairie dog and her babies. At the park we spotted a bunny rabbit. Peyton is loving the backyard. It did take him a day or 2 to get used to walking barefoot on the grass. Are my kids missing out? Ian and I can't give them access to play lands, parks, sporting events (minus Japanese baseball). Not like what they have to offer here. Spending just a few days here has sold me on the idea of retiring here. It is a bit of city, with a lot of country mixed in.
Tomorrow we are headed to the Natural History Museum, and the Aquarium. With lunch somewhere in there.
There is talk of us spending a day of 2 sleeping in a tepee. I am not sure if that will happen, but I am sure the kids would love it...
Are any of you my readers (OK, all 3 of you) from Colorado, or have spent time here? What do you suggest for fun with 3 active kids?
Have a wonderful Colorado Day!!

Are you on the Western or Eastern slope?
I can tell you lots of stuff to do on the Western slope.
I'm from Montrose.
Well I'm not from Colorado, nor have I ever been there, but I do want to go. So post pictures. Blogland is all about vicarious living, or didn't you know. ;-)
Sounds like you all are having a great time.
Go to Water World, that is if it ever stops raining and gets warm enough. Go to Estes Park for the day. Go to Garden of the gods in Colorado Springs.
I'm glad you're having fun. No idea of what to do in CO.
We used to live in Colorado, while Don was in grad school. We still visit there frequently. I could keep you busy for a long, long time! Our favorites are the natural/cheap/free things rather than touristy mini golf or high priced caves, etc.
North of Denver:
The touristy town of Estes is at the main entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. In RMNP you can drive Fall River Road, which takes you to above the treeline to the lodge/gift shop in the park, the scenery is amazing. If you're daring, you can drive up OLD Fall River Road, which is one way and has tight switchbacks (that's our fave way, you can stop and hike to the falls). Don't miss the Alluvial Fan, which has giant boulders pushed down during a dam break and a big waterfall. Horseback riding in Estes is awesome too.
Colorado Springs area:
At the Manitou Cliff Dwellings you can walk through the dwellings and they have historical info. Garden of the Gods is free, and has very breathtaking scenery.
If you make it all the way southwest of Pueblo, I highly recommend Great Sand Dunes National Monument. We had a great time climbing and running down the dunes.
The Arkansas River headwaters near Salida (sw. of Co. Springs) is a beautiful area, we tent camped down by the river, and you can take river raft trips (even easy "floats") w/the little ones).
Denver/west of Denver:
The Museum (hope you had a good time!), Buffalo Bill's Grave & Museum (and the view of Denver from there), Mt. Evans...shall I go on? There are tons of things to do in/near Denver. Make sure you make it to a brewery tour though!
Somebody remind me why I live in Iowa...
We have pics on our flickr account if you want to see what some of these places look like:

Now I'm ready for a trip back out there!
